HAYNES 292 is a γ' phase precipitation-strengthened nickel-based superalloy. It relies on the titanium-aluminum precipitate to strengthen at medium to high temperatures, forming a continuous and dense alumina protective layer. It also has excellent hot and cold workability and welding properties, with outstanding low-cycle fatigue performance. It can maintain stable creep and tensile strength for long periods at temperatures up to 870°C, with balanced high-temperature oxidation and microstructural stability, and strong adaptability to hot and cold forming processes. For decades, it has been widely used in areas with high-temperature alternating loads, such as aircraft gas turbine cases, turbine annular components, industrial gas turbine high-temperature casings, aircraft engine sealing parts, and high-temperature load-bearing ring structures.

Chemical Composition

Nickel (Ni) is present in the remaining amount, serving as the base matrix of HAYNES 292 alloy, stabilizing the austenitic structure, and ensuring high-temperature toughness and structural stability. 
Chromium (Cr) content ranges from 17.50% to 19.50%, forming an outer chromium oxide protective layer, enhancing oxidation resistance and hot gas corrosion resistance. 
Cobalt (Co) content is 12.00%–15.00%, which strengthens the matrix through solid solution, effectively improving high-temperature creep endurance. 
Molybdenum (Mo) content is 4.20%–5.20%, reinforcing grain boundary structure and improving creep resistance and corrosion resistance. 
Aluminum (Al) content is 2.40%–3.00%, the core anti-oxidation element, forming a dense alumina layer at high temperatures to block oxygen penetration. 
Titanium (Ti) content is 1.60%–2.20%, which works together with aluminum to precipitate the γ' strengthening phase, significantly enhancing mechanical strength at medium temperatures. 
Carbon (C) content is 0.04%–0.09%, reasonably controlled to balance grain boundary strength while reducing the risk of welding hot cracks. 
Boron (B) content does not exceed 0.008%, refining grain boundaries and suppressing high-temperature intergranular cracking. 
Iron (Fe) content does not exceed 1.80%, strictly controlling impurities to avoid compromising long-term high-temperature stability. 
Manganese (Mn), Silicon (Si), Tungsten (W), and Niobium (Nb) do not exceed 0.35%, 0.25%, 0.40%, and 0.30% respectively, while Phosphorus (P) and Sulfur (S) are limited to 0.015% each; impurities are strictly controlled to ensure stability during welding and high-temperature operation. 

Mechanical Properties

Tensile Strength: 1160 MPa, indicating the maximum tensile force the material can withstand. 
Yield Strength: 740 MPa, the force at which the material begins to undergo permanent deformation. 
Elongation: 26%, representing the amount of plastic deformation the material can undergo before breaking, ensuring stable and controllable forming and welding processes. 
Hardness: 338 HB, the material's resistance to indentation by hard objects; strength increases after aging, requiring specialized tools for cutting. 
Fatigue Strength: Stable low-cycle fatigue life under high-temperature cyclic thermal loads and alternating gas conditions, resistant to crack initiation and propagation. 
Elastic Modulus: 215 GPa, reflecting material stiffness; minimal deformation under high-temperature stress, excellent dimensional stability for turbine casings and ring components.
